SUDDENLY REMOTE?
LIVE TRAINING SESSIONS TO HELP YOUR MANAGERS LEAD THEIR TEAMS REMOTELY
I know, I’m sick of thinking about it too.
But this pandemic has swept through and forced a whole new way of working into many companies. Suddenly you have everybody out of the office, with very little time to prepare. And add into that people scheduling their days differently to accommodate child care or trying to work from a kitchen table in a noisy shared flat. Well, 2020 has certainly set us a test, hasn’t it?
Managing people remotely is different. It can feel like you’re managing with one less sense. You don’t have the luxury of picking up on the atmosphere in an office, the vibe between different team members or the body language of someone who is having a bad day.
Equipping people managers with the tools to manage this situation effectively both for the continued success of the business, but also to ensure the well-being of its team members is critical.
I worked in small, tech companies for 20 years. For most of those I managed and was managed remotely. I now train managers how to manage remote teams. So I have a skill that can hopefully make these easier for you.
Here’s some short, interactive training sessions to equip your managers for the challenge, all delivered live over Zoom.
1. HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY MANAGE A TEAM REMOTELY
In this session, we will answer the questions
- How will I know when something’s wrong?
- How can I support my team members with this new way of working?
- Do I need to change my management approach?
- How can we continue to work effectively as a team?
- How do we manage if team members are working different hours?
- How do I keep my team members motivated?
- How will I know if they’re actually working?
Your managers will finish this training with some clear actions to move forward with. This will include thoughts on developing some rules of engagement with their teams to ensure everyone understands what needs to be done and feels fully supported along the way.
What we want to achieve?

2. MANAGING THE WELL-BEING AND RESILIENCE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR TEAM

The 6 keys we work through are
- A sense of purpose
- Positive Mental Attitude
- Connecting with others
- Determination
- Taking control
- Looking after yourself
The managers will be armed with actions to help support their team members develop in these different areas to build their resilience and well-being.

3. UNDERSTANDING THE IMPACT YOU HAVE ON OTHERS
(and why others impact you the way they do)
With everyone working from home, in challenging circumstances, the quality of connection between your team is critical.
This session will help your managers understand their own working behaviours and preferences, as well as those of their team and peers. This will reduce unnecessary friction and misunderstanding and help your managers adapt their management style for different members of their team.
Prior to the session, all attendees complete a DiSC profile. In working through this together, we will discuss
- What impact do they have on others and why do others impact they the way they do?
- Understanding the work preferences and behaviours of their team and manager
- Anticipating how different styles work together and how to benefit from that
- What different personalities need from each other to work at their best
- How to best support different team members working remotely based on their working style
What we want to achieve?
To reduce friction and improve productivity by helping managers work more effectively with their team and peers.
